Frequently Asked Questions

What is Youth-Focused Family Counseling?

What are Early Intervention Programs?

Can parents be involved in the counseling for their child?
Definitely!  Parental involvement in our Youth Focused Family Counseling services is key to successful changes happening for the family and for your child; you are not only welcomed, but also strongly encouraged to participate.  Our best outcomes occur when parents are involved in the counseling process.

Do you provide counseling for adults?
We can work with adults around parenting issues.  While the primary client must be a child, YSB counselors are able to work with adults in their role as parents.  We can also assist in locating additional resources for you if needed.

How can we afford your counseling services?

The YSB has numerous resources, thanks to local community support, to make services affordable to everyone.

INSURANCE REIMBURSEMENT
YSB therapists are eligible for reimbursement by many health care plans.  Our staff will help you determine what level of coverage may be available.

SLIDING FEE
In situations where insurance reimbursement is not available, the YSB counselor will work with the family to establish an affordable rate for services.

Do we need a police or court referral to use the Early Intervention Programs?

Youth and their parents can voluntarily participate in the various services offered by the Early Intervention Program staff.  Contact the nearest YSB Service Center to schedule an appointment or register for a class.

Is there financial assistance available to help cover the cost of the Early Intervention Programs?
Families with financial questions are encouraged to share those concerns with the Community Justice Program Coordinator.

Why are parents required to participate in Early Intervention Programs?
We have found that including parents in Early Intervention Programs produces better outcomes for young people.  It is with this spirit we include parents in many aspects of the process.
