A Typical YCAPP Day Included in each day is devoted to academic work, based on assignments provided by the student's regular classroom teachers. The Special Education qualified teacher on site monitors work completion and assists students with academic questions. Barriers to effective learning may be identified during the academic time and will be further addressed when the student returns to their regular school.
Each student has an individual conference with the YCAPP Counselor. They discuss the reason for referral to YCAPP as well as other concerns the student may have. A variety of alternatives and interventions may be recommended.
Many of the incidents leading to a referral to YCAPP involve a conflict with another person. The YCAPP Counselor arranges and facilitates a restorative conference with all of the parties, often resolving long standing problems.
YCAPP Counselor will assist with reentry to the student's home school and will also provide follow up support for student and parents. Parental involvement and participation is welcomed.
